Projects rarely go exactly as planned.
Sometimes work moves faster than expected. Sometimes everything progresses according to schedule. Other times, delays happen and deadlines begin to slip.
To help you quickly understand the health of your projects, Qadence automatically assigns a status to every project based on its progress and timeline.
The three project statuses are:
Ahead
On Track
Delayed
Imagine planning a road trip.
If you've covered more distance than expected at a particular time, you're ahead of schedule.
If you've covered exactly what you planned, you're on track.
If you've covered less than expected, you're delayed.
Projects work the same way.
Qadence compares the amount of work completed with the amount of time that has passed and uses this to determine your project's status.
A project is marked as Ahead when progress is greater than what is expected based on the project's timeline.
For example, if 50% of the project's time has passed but 70% of the work has already been completed, the project may be considered ahead of schedule.
This usually indicates that the team is moving faster than planned and has additional room to handle unexpected changes or challenges.
A project is marked as On Track when progress closely matches the expected pace of work.
For example, if 50% of the project's time has passed and approximately 50% of the work has been completed, the project is progressing as planned.
This is typically the ideal status because it means the project is moving toward its target completion date without significant delays or pressure.
A project is marked as Delayed when progress is behind what is expected based on the project's timeline.
For example, if 70% of the project's time has passed but only 40% of the work has been completed, the project may be considered delayed.
A delayed status serves as an early warning that the project may miss its target completion date if corrective action is not taken.
Qadence continuously evaluates project progress by looking at:
The project's start date
The project's target end date
The percentage of completed work
Using this information, Qadence calculates whether your project is progressing faster than expected, as expected, or slower than expected.
This gives you an instant view of project health without needing to manually calculate timelines or completion rates.
Remember, a status is not a judgement on your project or team. It is simply a signal that helps you understand where your project stands today so you can make better decisions tomorrow.
